The 2014 NAB Macquarie Matrons gala ball did not disappoint with the night of nights raising more than $75,000 of much-need funds for charities within the Macquarie Valley.
More than 500 people from near and far partied the night away in the Bellman Hanger at the Narromine Aerodrome.
Highlights of the night were the spectacular views to be had from the sunset balloon rides, the Sydney-based Baker Boys kept the dance floor pumping and guest speaker Dan Vickerman entertained with a recap of his stellar rugby career.
Principal charity, Blue Healers stress, anxiety and depression program, will receive $25,000 to run the program within the Macquarie Valley in 2014.
Blue Healers director Trudy Hansen said the donation would benefit many people throughout the Macquarie Valley.
"With the current drought situation in the area, people are doing it tough," she said.
"This donation will allow us to reach out to those in need, in the valley."
Smaller charities in the Macquarie Valley will also have the opportunity to benefit for the hard work and dedication of the matrons.
Committee president Kelly Reynolds said the matrons were now calling for expressions of interest from small, local charities as part of the Macquarie Regional Support Fund (MRSF).
"Charities that have benefitted in the past include schools, sporting clubs, men's sheds, child care and hospitals. It is a great opportunity to give something back to these local communities who have supported us," Miss Reynolds said.
The MSRF will be available to charities within the townships of Narromine, Trangie, Warren, Tottenham and Nyngan.
"An event of this size relies on the hard work and dedication of so many people and businesses.
It is great to see it all pay off and everyone benefits," Miss Reynolds said.
