Narromine Show President Bill Gibbs, said the event was a “great success” with entry through the gates higher than last year.
“I think it was a great success, given the seasonal conditions and the weather on the Friday especially, I think we did really well,” Mr Gibbs said.

“I think everything went off well. Horse numbers were good, pavilion numbers were great, there have been plenty of positive comments from different show societies around the place that came to me and thought it was very good. Chook numbers were solid, Maquarie Valley yard dog championships went off well with record entries,” Mr Gibbs said.
Due to the drought making it’s mark on the region, 2018 has been a tough year for local farmers, their families and the surrounding community. Mr Gibbs said that farmers form an invaluable part of our local economy and community, and that supporting them during these times was vital.
“It is critical that during these difficult times we remember to show support to our farming friends as the drain of drought is constant and has a flow on effect to the entire community,” he said.
“I think its really important everyone’s got to get off the farm of get away from where they are, socialise and communicate and talk to people who are in an alike situation.”
“Talk to each other and forget about what’s at home for a day, half a day or night. It’s a bit of counselling effectively.”
Gibbs praised the working committee for their hard work, and said it’s not an event that comes together overnight.
“A very big thank you to the working committee it takes a lot of people to put this show together and clean up afterwards,” he said.
“It requires a great deal of dedication from a number of hard working and dedicated volunteers. Without the support of our entirely volunteer committee this show would not be possible.”
“A really big thanks to Narromine Shire Council for shouting the first 1500 kids through the gate. That was a council initiative and they offered to do it.”

“Also thank you for the community for coming along and supporting the show.”
Mr Gibbs said the committee are already working towards making next year bigger and better, and is encouraging anyone who wants to give back to the community to consider the Show Society.
“We’ve got a really nice, young, encouraging and enthusiastic committee that’s welcoming to everyone.
“So if you want to give back to your local community maybe consider the Show Society.”
