The over the counter Return and Earn facility opened on December 8, and Managing Director Andrew Ball said it’s not only a great initiative, but helps the small community heavily affected by the drought keep income within the town.
“With the recent drought we have seen our turnovers fall and local businesses and farmers struggle to keep going,” Mr Ball said.

“We wanted our residents to have access to this service saving them the cost and time of travel into Dubbo and possibly shopping and doing other things while there, taking income away from us and other businesses into Dubbo.”
Mr Ball is encouraging people to recycle their eligible containers for an on the spot refund as it not only helps reduce items entering landfill, but is a great way to earn some more cash.
“It helps reduce recyclable materials being put into landfill and it’s a great way for kids to earn some pocket money,” Mr Ball said.
Since starting the service, Mr Ball said they have collected over 50,000 items, and thanked the community for their patience during their first month.
“We reopened on Monday and look forward to a big influx of Christmas and New Year recyclable items,” Mr Ball said.
Residents can return their cans and bottles for a refund from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 2pm.
Mr Ball said at this stage they have not set a limit on the amount they will take, however for deposits over 1500 items at one time a declaration detailing their name, address and photo identification is required by the depositor.
