Kurrajong House was full of fun and games on Thursday when they hosted the Seniors Getting Active event, as part of national Seniors Week.

The event was sponsored by the Senior’s Festival grant funding that supports organisations such as the Trangie Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) to hold events and activities for Seniors Week.
The Seniors Getting Active event is designed for senior members of the community participate in low key sporting activities that promote active lifestyles, inclusiveness, health and wellbeing.

The recreational activities are created and assessed by year 9 and 10 students at Trangie Central School undertaking Physical Activity and Sports Studies.
Activities included golfing activities, basketball throwing, volleyball, noughts and crosses, can and hoop throwing. Each activity is specially designed and assessed to accommodate the senior athletes.
Organiser and CEO of the Trangie LALC Terrie Milgate said the event is a fantastic way to help promote interaction and connection to the community.
Guests were also treated to a morning tea provided by the Trangie CWA and Narromine Shire Council, and were kept entertained by Rob Riley who had a number of seniors and hospital staff singing along to some classic hits during the activities.
Each participant also took home a prize sponsored and provided by Aboriginal Affairs.
