About 12.30am on Saturday, April 20, police stopped a driver and two passengers in a blue Holden Commodore sedan on A'Beckett Street, Narromine.

Upon stopping one man exited from the backseat of the vehicle and ran down A'Beckett street.

Police breath tested the female driver returning a negative result, however located a 23-year-old man, also a known property offender in the backseat of the vehicle.

During the search police located a black hooded jumper, two resealable bags and a torch. Further searches located an 'ice pipe' in the vehicle as well as several pairs of gloves.

The man was arrested and taken to Narromine Police Station where he was charged with possessing housebreaking implements and possessing equipment for administering a prohibited drug.

He was bailed and will appear at Narromine Local Court on June 4.

Narromine Police Sergeant Michael Smith said this is a great example of police being proactive about reducing property crime in the Narromine area.

"There is a high likelihood that the intervention by these officers has prevented further offences being committed," he said.

Sergeant Smith said police are still making inquiries to identify the male who ran from the vehicle, urging anyone with information to contact the Narromine Police station on 6889 1444 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
