Up to 1500 children can attend this year's Narromine Show free of charge thanks to the Narromine Shire Council.

The free entry for children is valued at $7500 and is aimed to encourage more people to attend the local show.

Narromine Show Society's President Bill Gibbs said last year the extra sponsorship from the council encouraged more parents to attend the Show.

"The Show Society cannot thank the Council enough for helping to promote the 2019 Narromine Show" Mr Gibbs said.

Narromine Shire Council's general manager, Jane Redden said the council are happy to be able to support such a great local event, especially during these harder times.

"Hopefully, the free entry for children will encourage more members of the community to attend the show," she said.

"The additional support is a thank you to the community for supporting council and its facilities."

The Narromine Show is a local event that has been running for many decades, it highlights the local producers and businesses in the area and helps to bring the community together.

The family friendly event includes activities from livestock parades and show jumping to scarecrow building, art and craft, preserve and baking competitions.

There are yard dog trials, tractor pull and ute competitions as well as the normal sideshow activities for all.

The Narromine Show is on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31 at the Narromine Showground and Racecourse on Dappo Road.
